ABOUT AMY

 

Hi!

I’m so happy you’re here.  If you don’t already know me, let me tell you a little bit about who I am.

My name is Amy, and I’m a New York City based yoga teacher. My first experience with yoga was over fifteen years ago  - as a teenager in my hometown of Mexico City. I remember thinking it was a little silly, and not understanding what made seemingly arbitrary poses amount to a so-called practice. But, week after week, my mind kept my body returning.

 

Not until many years later, as a law student in New York, did I listen to a growing desire to learn about what this practice of “yoga” actually entailed. I wanted to know where it came from, and how the calm I experienced on my mat could expand to my life beyond my mat.  

 

Upon completing my 200-hour teacher training—and a whole bunch of soul searching—I decided to ditch a career in  law and instead to pursue teaching yoga.

Now, years (and hundreds more hours of training) later, it continues to be an honor to teach yoga throughout New York.  In an effort to deepen community, inspire introspection, and enrich my students’ practice of yoga, retreats are also a part of my teaching.

Last year, a student (thanks, Tara!) who came on a retreat but couldn’t regularly attend my classes, suggested I make yoga videos so she could keep up her practice. Simultaneously, more of my students asked for suggestions for good classes online when geography, time, or financial constraints meant they were unable to attend my classes.

And voila, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of my subscription service! Whether you have a steady asana (i.e. on the mat physical) practice, have never practiced, are interested in guided meditations, have low back pain, wanna tone them butt muscles or work that core, have just five minutes or 60 minutes – there’s something here for you.  

 

I poured my heart into making these – I believe we all deserve access to a teacher we admire, respect, and trust.  I’d be honored to be that teacher for you.

I’d be much obliged if you’d send any feedback my way: I want more of these, I don’t like these, can you teach me this, and so on. I’m all ears.
